Halloweenie 7 Questions!

Happy 7 Questions! Halloween Edition!

One of my teacher besties and I a couple Halloweens ago.... She was a ladybug (obviously) and I was Hello Kitty. (The obsession runs deep...)

1. Do you believe in ghosts?

I believe in the power of the Holy Spirit, which is a whole different topic.....

  • Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. - John 3:5
  •  "I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. - Matthew 3:11
  •  "If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” - Luke 11:13

And I believe there are things that are ghostly but I don't wanna mess with those. Creeeeeeepy!

2. Do you prefer the cute or the scary Halloween?

*laughter* I'm a bit of an oxymoron when it comes to Halloween. My natural inclination is towards the cute Halloween stuff. I grew up doing only cutesy tootsy Halloween. I wasn't allowed to dress as anything scary.  As an adult, I took on the responsibility of decorating/creating/working in the Spook House at school. So - I now do both cute and scary. When we have a kid, I'm making sure that kid does CUTE Halloween. I would not, not, NOT let my kid come in the haunted house. No-sir-ee-bob!

Scary

Cute

3. How old were you when you stopped trick or treating?

I don't remember. Maybe 6th grade? I can tell you about my troubles with  Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and the Easter Bunny.... I remember that... but stop Trick or Treating??? I don't know.

4. Do you have any fun Halloween traditions?

Hmmm....not officially yet. I mean, the last 5 years I've worked the Spook House at school and that feels sort of like a tradition. My husband and I carved pumpkins last year, but we haven't this year. I hope to make some traditions as we go along.
Batman Pumpkin

5. Share a scary local urban legend.

Shoot.... Cry Baby Bridge. Apparently they're all over the country but it spooked us when we were kids. We used to stand in the bathroom at school and say, "Bloody Mary" three times, but nothing happened. And then at recess when I was 8 we used to play, "Light as a feather, stiff as a board." Across the street from our school there was the original, one-room school house. We made up plenty of ghosts stories, I just don't remember the details.

6. Would you rather be haunted or haunting?
How about NEITHA! I 'haunt' the spook house at school and that's good enough for me. I always feel bad though because at least once a year I make a kid cry in the spook house. Sorry, little children. I don't mean to make you cry.

7. What's your favorite Halloween character/ creature? (dracula, witch, ghost, etc)
Can't we all just be happy little things, like Hello Kitty and Diction-Fairies?  I enjoy watching Vincent Price movies at Halloween. So, like .... Edgar Allen Poe type stuff is creepy enough for just once a year. How about Edward Scissorhands? He's fun, too.

Questions of Seven

The funny picture everyone's been waiting for.... me and Baby Wolf. I miss you, Baby Wolf. I'm glad you're happy where you are.

1. Describe your perfect day.
Gosh- - - Sleep until I wake up naturally, eat biscuits with butter, go thrifting with my husband, eat lunch somewhere yummy, come home and lounge around the house. Watch some Dr. Who (Doctor number 10- David Tennant, naturally!) All while wearing something cute, of course!

2.What was something that you were afraid of as a child?
I'm still not convinced that chicken will not peck at my toes when they're outside of the blankets at night. I got flogged by a rooster at three years old and have been leery ever since. There's a reason I never feel bad about eating chicken.

3. What's something you're afraid of today?
Hello! Didn't you hear me about those chickens?! Okay.... I'm a still a little terrified of the dark. I want  need to be able to see. Actual fears and worries aren't the same. If I went into to worries I could rattle off a list.... but mostly, being a failure in one way or another: a failure at teaching, being a crappy wife, a stinky parent, a bad friend...ya know, failure.

4. Would you rather be obsessed with yourself or someone else?
I'm an only child. I'm already pretty obsessed with myself. Do you see the massive amount of photos of me on here? What is a personal blog but self obsession. Let's be honest, folks. I'm awesome. And aren't we all a little obsessed with ourselves?

5. What is a favorite restaurant that you could visit over and over and never get sick of?
La Margarita. I could eat chips and salsa until I was as fat as a hog. Their chips and salsa is the BOMB! So much better than any chain restaurant. Seriously.... soooooooo good!

6. What is one food you used to hate but now enjoy?
So many foods could be added to the list. Our family's traditional cranberry goop used to scare me but it's delicious! I made some good chicken noodle soup the other day. I used to only eat that with Cheetos in it. I like lasagna. I like pasta salad. I'm still not keen on Asian food though.... perhaps another decade I will enjoy it?

7. Fill in the blank: Star ________.
light, star bright, first star I see tonight. I wish I may, I wish I might have this wish I wish tonight.

7 Questions

Starting with a "funny picture":
100_1227
*Le sigh * Really? Really...? REALLY?! Why is there a teacher nutcracker? Maybe I'm crazy, but I do NOT want a teacher nutcracker. I love Target. I think they're kind of brilliant most of the time.... but this teacher nutcracker is utter and complete ridiculousness.

Moving on.....
1. Do you ever have reoccurring dreams?
Not so much reoccuring dreams but reoccuring locations. My favorite dreams always have vintage clothes or shopping. There's a certain shopping mall I've dreamt about since I was about 12. It's always a bummer to wake from those dreams.

When I'm really stressed out there's a certain person from my past who shows up. Hate those dreams. If that person shows up in my dreams I know I'm super stressed.

2. It's the first day of Fall (or Spring for you southern hemispherers) in a few days, what are you looking forward to most?
Halloweeeeeeeeeeen! Dressing up! Layering my clothing. Those simple things.

3. Because a lack of coordination, would you rather not be able to tie your shoes or cut your own food?
I HAVE to cut my own food. At least I could wear shoes without tying laces. If I couldn't cut my own food I'd resort to cavewoman tactics to eat. That's not ladylike.

4. Would you rather live in a house made entirely of glass or a house with no windows?
So long as could spend some time outside- I wouldn't care if my house had no windows. I need that vitamin D. Let's go with a house with no windows.

5. Would you rather walk on you toes or heels forever?
I'd rather walk on my toes. Walking on your heels is so much harder to do. Plus - growing up a dancer - toes makes so much more sense.

6. What's your favorite sense? (you have 5 btw)
Wow- it's hard to choose- I sure like taste because I love to eat. I love smell because I have strong memories associated with smells. My FAVORITE is sight though. I like to see all the pretty things there are to see. I enjoy clothing. I enjoy colors. I enjoy people watching. Yep. Gotta go with sight.

7. What's your favorite movie quote of all time?
I asked hubbalicious if I had a favorite quote and he says the only one he's heard my say is, "Nobody puts baby in the corner." Which is weird because I don't really like Dirty Dancing that much. I like to pretend I'm gonna be "thirty, flirty, & thriving" like in 13 Going on 30. Truth be told, I don't quote movies often. How about something from Clueless: "As if"

Seven Questions

Linkedy doo dah linkedy day - linkin' up with Gentri today! (sung to the tune of Zippity doo dah)

As per the ushze- - - a "funny photo" to kick it off. This photo is from our honeymoon in Nash-vegas. See how sweetly my husband humors me... haha

1. Do you have any weird food combinations that you love?
I'm a semi- picky eater. Odds are - if it doesn't belong together - I won't put it in my tummy.

2. Have you ever written a blog post, published it, then immediately deleted it?
Yes. Yes, I did that. (Sorry, husband) Ladies - ALWAYS run it by the husband/significant other before you click "Publish"

3. What is a hair style you wish you could pull off, but would never be brave enough to try?
I thought I was brave once. I thought I was Rihanna. Lesson Learned? Listen to your hair dresser when she says, "I don't think this will work for you."
157

It's not a matter of bravery... it's a matter of keeping my JOB! If we were allowed to have unnaturally colored hair...this is what I'd go with.......And I'd be happy as a clam. And I'd love it.....
(source)

But since I'm a teacher in real life - and unnaturally colored hair is "distracting" - - - this is what I'll settle for once can dye my hairs again...

Or this....
(source)
Can you tell I wanna be a ginger???

4. Would you rather have to always use the sun to tell the time or directions by the stars?
Urgh... since I stink at directions - I'd rather be able to see where I'm getting lost. Plus -when I don't get enough Vitamin D  I'm a bit of a sad sack. As beautiful as the stars are - I choose sun. I need the sun! If I don't have it - my mood wilts like a flower!

5. What is a fall trend that you are excited to try?
Um.... I have a tendency to make up my own trends. At this point - I'm unaware of any Fall trends other than the one I just read about on Gentri's blog. She mentioned something about Mulberry lips. Cool! Soooo...... I'm looking forward to being able to layer up a little. I always feel like I make better outfit combos when I can layer up.

6. Who is your style icon?
Funny you should ask! I just wrote a blog about how I heart Gwenny Gwen Stefani.
- Betsey Johnson
- Victoria Beckham
- and every lady from the Advanced Style series on youtube.

7. What's your favorite outdoor activity?
Swimming and sitting. Recess duty. I try to avoid outside. I'm pretty sure I'm allergic.

3 +4 = SEVEN Questions!

Let's start this shindig with a funny picture:
Middle Wolf and I had a Ke$ha Glitter Party because we weren't able to score tickets for ourselves.... "What's a Ke$ha glitter party" you ask? Oh, it's full of wonderous things, like glitter eyeshadow, spicy leopard print attire, random braids, and a radio station of all-Ke$ha-all-the time.

1. I say "Jump" You say ______.
How high?

2. What is your favorite flower?
I'm high maintenance ya'll... I love roses!

3. If you had to choose between having plumbing or electricity, which would you choose?
Whoa. Tough call...but life without plumbing would mean stinky toilets and stinky people. No showers. No water. Boo. I think people were able to entertain themselves pre-electricity. There'd be more time for reading, drawing, etc. (old-school entertainment)

4. What is your go-to funny youtube video? (keep 'em clean)

and...

and just for fun...not for funny...

5. Do you think dreams mean something?
Sometimes they do and I can usually rationalize or at the very least explain why I dreamed it.

Acts 2:17 says. "In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams

6. Do you collect anything?
At school, kids know I'm a Hello Kitty-aholic. At home, I guess if clothes & shoes count - that'd be collection.

7. You're in a situation that is everything it should be. You're with the right people, in the right place, doing the right things, but it doesn't "feel" right... What do you do?
Wake up because obviously I'm dreaming.

7 Questions

Linking up with the always fabulous, Gentri Lee

Yep, that's how we roll. Making ridiculous faces. Geez. That's love in it's finest hour....

1. Hamburger or Hotdog? (veggie versions count)
Cheeseburgers are best. Although I do occasionally get a hankering for a tiny, coney type hot dog. .

2. If you had to live on any other planet in our solar system, besides Earth, which would you choose?
After a brief inquiry - I've come to the conclusion I'd prefer to live on Mars as it's most similar to Earth, according to my super smart husband.  Then again, poor Pluto isn't a planet anymore, except in peoples'  hearts. Maybe I'd like to live on Pluto. Wait,....no. It's probably too cold. I just don't want Pluto to feel left out.

3. Share a photo of an outfit that represents your personal style, please. (doesn't have to be of you) Have you followed my Fashionista Bloggerista pinboard on Pinterest yet? If not...you should check it out! I have a quirky style...I just know I dress differently than anyone else I know. I find inspiration all over the place. Fashion is one of my favorite things. I don't know how to describe my style...it's just uniquely me.

  \

4. Would you rather get ready for the day or get ready for bed?
As much as I love sleeping, I'd much rather get ready for the day ahead. It's fun to pick out my outfit for the day. I like fixing my hair, choosing accessories, the right shoes, etc.

5. You have to choose between never having eyelashes or never having eyebrows, which would you choose?
Have you seen this picture?! Answer is OBVIOUSLY no eyelashes...

6. What do you want to be when you grow up?
I am a grown up and I am a teacher. But when I'm even MORE grown up, I want to be a mommy. :o) Today one of my students asked, "Do you have a daughter?" and I said, "No ma'am." She seemed pretty disappointed.

7. Do you set your clocks right on time, or a few minutes ahead or behind?
My clock in the bedroom is fast because it runs fast. I didn't set it that way. The clock in my car is behind because it runs slow. The clock in the kitchen is rarely set correctly. The clock in my classroom is a couple minutes fast. And my cell phone is the only thing that keeps me on time!

Seven Querrrrstions!

I need a sense of blog "normalcy". Since this is my blog. I get to do the things I like here. Clothes. Teaching. Husband. Hello Kitty. Pink. Chicken - oh wait, I started just naming stuff I like. Anyway, back to the seven questions......

I'm supposed to start with a funny picture.
DramaQueen
Hello. My name is Jana. I'm a drama queen. I'm also a teacher and this is what I look like when I've been grading papers too long.

1. Bold or Understated?
My outfits are pretty bold... and as far a personalities go - I'm probably bold. I think I'm memorable.

2. You have to survive alone in the wild and you only get to take one thing with you. Your choices are: A Pocket Knife, a Water Bottle, or a Book. Which do you choose and why?

Well. I'm screwed. If I have to survive in the wild, my best bet is probably gonna be a pocket knife, but I'm still in deep doo doo. Fo' sho. This girl does not "rough it".

3. Thirty Two Cows, Seven Eight Chickens, How Many Didn't?

Is there an answer for this?
30 - 2 cows
7 - ate chickens?
What? I don't understand. these kind of questions frustrate me. Gentriiiiiii! I shake my fist at you.

4. Would you rather die doing one legendary act of service or do small acts of kindness that may go unnoticed every day?

Small acts of kindness. Isn't that kind of what teaching is about? Small good things over a long period of time? Perhaps it's not as "epic" or "memorable" publicly, but it's super important to be nice. Whoa. Our in-service training this year was about starting a Chain Reaction of Kindness. Check it out...Rachel's Challenge

5. Happiness is ________. (one word; fill in the blank)

Contentedness

6. Can you laugh with out smiling?

7. Do you pop your knuckles?

yes... and I've been informed after a year of being married no less, that I pop my knuckles in my sleep. Yep. I'm weird.

You know you missed 'em... 7 Questions

I'm supposed to open with a funny picture. Seein' as how every one likes a little public humiliation and I'm the one in charge of my own here... for your viewing pleasure, ladies and gents:
001-12
What's going on here? Let me tell ya'- I'm puttin' on my makeup. Brown smudges? Oh, lovely. Lesson learned? Don't leave your skin-matching foundation in the car when you go on a trip in the summer. It gets all hot and melty and then you're trying to match a color fit for someone whose "Native  American" hues are a little darker than my own. (Please don't be offended... I'm legit Cherokee.) This photo is courtesy of my husband thinking I looked hilariously cute. Can you blame him? ;o)
1. It's the first day of August- Are you savoring the Summer or ready to jump into Fall?
Oh...poor...me.... You know I love teaching but I'm trying to grasp the last days of Summer like sand in a bottle... *le sigh* Savor the Summer. (but quite frankly, this triple digit heat in Oklahoma is RUDE.)

2. You need a quick and healthy meal, what do you make?
I'm going to be honest and say, healthy meal? Probably not. Cheetos? Probably so. Sad but true- I suck at eating healthily.

3. You're at the mall, how do you shop?
The stores I always hit are Bath and Body Works, Victoria's Secret, and Forever 21. I also make sure and get an Auntie Anne's pretzel or a meal from Chick-fil-a. Other than that, I kind of start at the end I walked in on an hit all the stores in which I might want to stop. Random. Sporadic. Carefree. I hate shopping like I'm on a mission. I'd never find anything that way.

4. Would you rather buy a new house or renovate an old one?
I already bought a home that is nearly 100 years old. I've not done much "updating". It's just been more personalization than anything. I like the charm of older homes. I like that I wouldn't have as much to think about with a new house...but honestly, price wise, for our little family it'd be better to renovate an old one.

5. Long hair or short hair?
I've done both. I've learned I will NEVER do hair that short again. No. Not gonna happen. Not a good look for this lady.
Short Hair - 2008
014-8

I currently have long hair.
Photobucket

6. Who is your oldest (not by age) friend?
Well - you see - I've had the same best friends since I was 8 years old. We met in third grade. Read a little about those beauties here. If you want to back a little further... visit first grade. My friend Carolyn and I were besties in 1st and 2nd grade and when she moved away it was a bummer. Fortunately, Facebook helps us stay in contact.

7. What is your favorite blog- currently?
Okay - this is a hard question because there are obviously ten million wonderful bloggers out there. So - I am going to go with someone "BIG" so as not to hurt feelings and also because I lust after her closet. First, Jane Aldridge from Sea of Shoes hands down. I pretty much think she's got style for miles and miles. If I were richer, I'd dress like that all the time. She makes me feel less like a weirdo. Love her. Lots of picture posts and really... isn't that what people like? I do. :o)

Second, Kandee Johnson the youtube Vlogger/tutorial Queen.  She's always so incredibly upbeat and positive. I love her tutorials. I love her blog. I love her. She's got a great way of making me feel like I'm her real life friend. Plus, I remember when she friended me on youtube. I just about peed myself with excitement. Talk about some hyperventilation. Recently, her father passed and she's been on a youtube hiatus but she still manages to write sweet, encouraging blog posts. How could anyone not love her???

7 Questions

Seriously, the Seven questions is always so much fun. I feel like I really get to know other bloggers and it's fun for me because I like to talk about myself. (Yes, I realize that's fat headed. I'm my momma's only and my daddy's baby, so sue me!)

Two years ago, I was Pinocchio in my dance studio's ballet. Dancing with a long nose can be tricky. ;o) Lesson: Don't be a liar!
Photobucket

1. If you could be any princess- which would you be and why?
I've never wanted to be a princess. Closest I've come was before I met my husband, I always sang Snow White's "Someday My Prince Will Come".

I've also been known to say, "Alice in Wonderland should be made into an honorary princess. She's my favorite Disney girl anyway."

 Alice 2

2. Do you have any odd habits? (do things in order, words that you say too often, etc)
When eating french fries, I pick and choose the good ones. If they're too floppy, too brown, too salty,  etc. I won't eat them. I also mash my burgers & some sandwiches.

3. What's your "go to" outfit?
I really, really, REALLY like clothes. It's a little ridiculous. During the school year, I try to look professional. Black slacks or a black skirt tend to be easy. During the summer, I'm a jeans & t-shirt kind of gal. I'll always love a quirky t-shirt.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are their genders, ages, order of age, names, etc?
I have 3 half-siblings. I'm gonna pass on their ages. Partially because they're older than me and partially because I'm uncertain. Oldest sister, Karla, Middle sister, Rachele, Younger middle brother, Lance.

5. What's your favorite precious stone?
Diamonds are a girls best friend and pearls are my birthstone. I'm happy about both.

6. If you had a check in your hand for 1 million dollars, what would you do with it?
Pay off any debts, give $$$ to my church, find a way to make sure my husband has his own "room" to do anything with, something nice for my parents, and save the rest.

7. What do you love most about yourself- physically (eyes, smile, hair, etc. I don't know a good way to word that question...)
I have thick, long, straight hair that holds curl well if I decide to curl it. I kind of love it. :o)

Seven Questions Numero Dos

I'm linking up to Gentri Lee's 7 Questions Wednesday (Yes, I'm fully aware I'm a whole 2 days Tardy to the Party)

Funny photo: Middle Wolf and I get ridiculous in Target. I'm channeling my inner Ke$ha (maybe?).

Photobucket

1. What do you do when you're sick? (Do you act like a baby? Tough it out? Have any weird cravings? Cry?)
I'm the biggest baby ever. I want Cheetos and ice cream and someone to "fix it". I've been told that when I'm super duper legit sick, I turn into a bear and want people to leave me alone.

2. What do you do to find motivation when you feel you've lost it?
If it's to do with teaching and I've lost motivation, checking out other teacher blogs helps. That and Pinterest. If it's to do with cleaning, usually an episode or 2 of Hoarders does the trick. If it's to do with learning something new, it gets worse before it gets better. When it comes to motivations, it depends on what I need to be motivated to do.

3. Do you wish time away or do you savor every moment?
I go between extremes. I'm great at lounging and sitting around so I am probably a "wisher awayer". I've learned that when I'm "savoring the moments" I tend to pack my schedule and wear myself thin. I'm both. True story.

4. If you could be any mythological creature, what would you be, and why?
I'd be a Siren because they're beautiful, sneaky, and musical. I like the idea of being sneaky since I'm completely NOT in real life.

5. What is your current biggest weakness and are you working on fixing it?
I'm the world's worst about picking/chewing the skin around my cuticles, particularly on my thumbs. I fully realize that it's yucky. It's an anxious habit that I developed so long ago that I'm not sure when it started. I recently purchased a creme called Control It and I'm also trying to realize when I do it. Trying to find out what triggers this habit. Again, I realize it's strange, gross, not normal, etc. I'm sharing. With the internet. And people who know me in real life. Eek.

6. How do you greet someone when meeting them for the first time?
I'm a hand-shaker and big smiler. "Nice to meet you." Extremely rare but in some cases, I'll even hug someone.

7. How do you grocery shop? (Do you write up a list? Go in with no idea what you're looking for? Have meal plans? Bring your own shopping bags?)
Unfortunately, I use the list in my head or shop on a whim. Terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE idea. I'm still technically a newlywed and I NEED to learn to cook more things. That would help with the craptastic, non-existent list situation.
I'd love for you to play along.... so fun to read your answers!
