Falling for Fall Trends

I started this blog as a "fashion blog".... and fashionable ladies everywhere are dying to know some trends that are coming up.... Here ya' have it! (Truth be told - my niece said she wanted to visit my blog for some Fall fashion tips.... here I was all unprepared and not knowing..... so now I share with thee.)
1. Mulberry lip colors

There are lots of places you can get your hands on this color - Revlon, L'Oreal, Elizabeth Arden, etc. I hear it's typically flattering for most people with the exception of folks with small lips. I hear it makes them look smaller.

2. Loafers - studded, suede, velveteen, printed,  all of the above...

These are from Target and you can go buy your own for $24.99 here.

Available at Target for $19.99. I know how all the frugalista fashionistas love Target!

3.  This spring everyone was crazy for colored denim!  You're old favorites are back in darker shades.

4. Navy Blue is the new neutral.
Whodda thunk it?! Also noteworthy- navy blue and black CAN be done together.

(Hey Heather... this is for you!)
5. You CAN wear white after Labor Day - so long as it's Winter White!

6.  Printed pants carried over from summer. When cooler weather hits, them with heels and a contrasting print and you're set for work.

As always - our old familiar favorites- scarves, boots, leggings, and cardigans - make the cut this year. So..... do you feel prepared and ultra trendy? I know I sure do! (much facetiousness I doth extend unto you....) But seriously... I know I'm going to be rocking the navy blue as a neutral and hopefully some loafersl. What trends are you ready/excited to try???

Seven Questions

Linkedy doo dah linkedy day - linkin' up with Gentri today! (sung to the tune of Zippity doo dah)

As per the ushze- - - a "funny photo" to kick it off. This photo is from our honeymoon in Nash-vegas. See how sweetly my husband humors me... haha

1. Do you have any weird food combinations that you love?
I'm a semi- picky eater. Odds are - if it doesn't belong together - I won't put it in my tummy.

2. Have you ever written a blog post, published it, then immediately deleted it?
Yes. Yes, I did that. (Sorry, husband) Ladies - ALWAYS run it by the husband/significant other before you click "Publish"

3. What is a hair style you wish you could pull off, but would never be brave enough to try?
I thought I was brave once. I thought I was Rihanna. Lesson Learned? Listen to your hair dresser when she says, "I don't think this will work for you."
157

It's not a matter of bravery... it's a matter of keeping my JOB! If we were allowed to have unnaturally colored hair...this is what I'd go with.......And I'd be happy as a clam. And I'd love it.....
(source)

But since I'm a teacher in real life - and unnaturally colored hair is "distracting" - - - this is what I'll settle for once can dye my hairs again...

Or this....

Can you tell I wanna be a ginger???

4. Would you rather have to always use the sun to tell the time or directions by the stars?
Urgh... since I stink at directions - I'd rather be able to see where I'm getting lost. Plus -when I don't get enough Vitamin D  I'm a bit of a sad sack. As beautiful as the stars are - I choose sun. I need the sun! If I don't have it - my mood wilts like a flower!

5. What is a fall trend that you are excited to try?
Um.... I have a tendency to make up my own trends. At this point - I'm unaware of any Fall trends other than the one I just read about on Gentri's blog. She mentioned something about Mulberry lips. Cool! Soooo...... I'm looking forward to being able to layer up a little. I always feel like I make better outfit combos when I can layer up.

6. Who is your style icon?
Funny you should ask! I just wrote a blog about how I heart Gwenny Gwen Stefani.
- Betsey Johnson
- Victoria Beckham
- and every lady from the Advanced Style series on youtube.

7. What's your favorite outdoor activity?
Swimming and sitting. Recess duty. I try to avoid outside. I'm pretty sure I'm allergic.

Being Social on a Sunday

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it??
When I was younger I used to say, "If I ever had my own clothing line, it would have Every Day is Your Runway as it's tagline."  You never know who is watching you. Your life is on display - your runway - so to speak. It's not just about your appearance, your fashion, your style, but your personality, your morals, your thoughts, the way you treat people. Somehow I am known as a fashion-y lady. People remember my unique style. (I'm not being fatheaded, people really have told me that before.) I asked on my personal facebook if people would be interested in reading my opinions and thoughts on fashion in blog form and I got a positive response. Hence... Every Day is Your Runway was born.

2. What do you love the most about blogging??
I'm a people person. I really like to see the best in everyone and I'm kind of naive that way. I like having new followers. I like getting comments. I like being able to make new friends. I enjoy having a place to share my thoughts and have people I don't already know in real life like it. And that's the truth.

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?
Tied:
Bullet Necklace Tutorial and Apple for the Teacher - DIY

Here I go - basically a how-to on thrifting - and my very first post

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
Well - I'm definitely no expert. I've had my little bloggy blog coming up on three years (My blog's third birthday is later this month!) I just got serious about it at the beginning of the summer and here are the things I've learned.

1. Being a no-reply blogger is no fun. Most bloggers like to communicate with their peeps. If we can't talk to you - you can't be our new bestie! What's a no-reply blogger? Well, I get all my comments sent to my e-mail. When I try to reply to them and there's no email address to reply to...that's a no reply blogger. Wanna know how to change it? Go here.

2. Spend some time making your blog pretty. You can learn a lot from Google. You can DIY a header, a button, a background, and all kinds of cool stuff. It's worth the effort. If you decorate it - they will come.

3. Participate in link-ups to get followers but don't ONLY do link-ups. That's boring and people want to read your original stuff too. Some of my favorites link-ups are Gentri Lee's Seven Questions on Wednesdays and Neely and Ashley's Sunday Social and Neely and Amber's It's Okay Thursdays.

4. Stay true to yourself and write about what you like. You can be "inspired by" other bloggers but if you compare yourself and try to be like them...you'll not be happy with what you write about.

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
'Member how I said to Google stuff to learn how to do it?  Yeah. I'm not a user of profanity but I almost became one while trying to learn how to make a blog background and header. I'm pretty sure my blog will stay this way forever because I'm currently too po' and too cheap to pay someone to design my blog. Plus - it took hours  upon hours upon daaaaaays to learn how to do this. You bettah red-neck-onize how cute this is because...dang it ya'll...it was difficult!

6. Give us 3 blogs we NEED to be following that you love.
Of course - I like my own blog - but since you're already here... how about some mo'? (p.s. this is really hard to choose only 3. I told you I like people.)

Heather at Cookies For Breakfast -  She is funny. She has a way cute son. She is really funny. She is honest. Even as a lady without a baby... I enjoy reading her blog posts about her son Benjamin and cool stuff she writes about like cloth diapers and making your own baby food. She's witty. Oh, did I mention she's funny? Plus....she writes back! Seriously... you'll love her!

Okay - so - Kandee Johnson just about makes me crap my pants every time she replies to a comment I leave her. She is a blogging rock star.  She is the person who inspired me to start my own youtube channel. Her personality is so bubbly. She's quirky, random, and inspirational. When her dad passed away earlier this year...she was so strong. I've never met her but she is so good about making her blog readers feel like they really know her and feel important. When I grow up, I want my blog to be a haven like Kandee's.

When Mine Became Ours is another fun one. She wears cute outfits. Writes cute things about her and her husband. Writes funny tales of her day-to-day life. I especially enjoy her Awkward & Awesome posts. She occasionally has delicious recipes. It's a hodge podge of awesome! Now...time to visit!

I'm so legit I even have the cards to prove it!

A HUGE "Thank You" goes out to Brittany from Not So Newlyweds! Over the summer I was fortunate enough to win her VistaPrint Monday giveaway.  She had some brilliant ideas to use VistaPrint business cards in the classroom. (I especially love the idea to use the cards from the Desk Fairy.) If you haven't visited her blog yet, you should. She actually has two - a lifestyle blog and a teacher blog. Naturally, I like both.

These are the darling cards I got:
